Thom and Steve met through a friend in Nashville in 2001. When they sat down to write
for the first time they discovered they both had roots in St. Louis.
They hit it off immediately and the first song they penned together was cut by
artist Blake Shelton. When Steve thought of the idea for Redneck Yacht Club
he knew Thom was the one to write it with. The song was written in two
writing sessions. The first day they through some funny lines out about
what it looks like to have a bunch of boats strung together and before they knew
it they were tapping into their life experiences at Lake of the Ozarks, The
Mississippi River, Lake Carlyle, Percy Priest Lake and others. Little did they
know they were writing the "Summer Anthem of 2005" as described by ASCAP.
