Broken Bow Records and RED Distribution Celebrate
First Gold Digital Track

Nashville, TN – (January 10, 2006) – It was announced today that Broken Bow Recording star Craig Morgan has reached GOLD certification status for the digital track for "Redneck Yacht Club," with total sales of more than 102,000. In order for a single to be an RIAA certified gold digital track, it has to have sales in excess of 100,000.

"I'm excited for the two writers (Thom Shepherd and Steve Williams) and myself," says Morgan. "It just goes to show that a fun song can be a hit song. Thank God for digital technology!"

Not only is "Redneck Yacht Club" the first Gold digital track for
Broken Bow Records, but is also the first song distributed by Red Distribution in any genre of music to reach the gold status.

This is third single released from MY KIND OF LIVIN', from which Morgan has celebrated back-to-back number one records: "Redneck Yacht Club" and "That's What I Love About Sunday."

Totally Country, Vol. 5 (Sony/BMG) follows in the path of similar pop, rock, gospel and rap collections, compiling 17 huge numbers into one handy set for those who haven’t, don’t want to, or can’t afford the individual releases.
It opens with a great one in Miranda Lambert’s “Kerosene,” one of the hottest numbers done by anyone last year. It also has ace selections from Gretchen Wilson (“Homewrecker”), Ray Scott (“My Kind Of Music”), Blake Shelton (“Goodbye Time”), Dierks Bentley (“How Am I Doin’”) and Brooks & Dunn (“It’s Getting Better All The Time”), among others.

Independent record companies produce something that used to come from Music Row labels only: hits

At the turn of the new century, country radio airwaves belonged nearly entirely to music from the Music Row-based major record labels. In the past year, though, several independent acts — including Equity Records' Little Big Town — have seen great successes.

In 2005, Craig Morgan's That's What I Love About Sunday was the most-played country song of the year, according to Billboard magazine. Released on independent Broken Bow Records, That's What I Love About Sunday stayed atop the Billboard country singles chart for four straight weeks. Morgan's Redneck Yacht Club was Billboard's 25th most-played country song of the year.

Morgan's Broken Bow label-mate, Jason Aldean, scored a Top 10 country single with Hicktown, and Aldean's self-titled album has now sold or shipped more than 500,000 copies.

Toby Keith's independent label, Show Dog, has helped him to a Top 15 success with Get Drunk and Be Somebody, and Jack Ingram of Big Machine has cracked Billboard's Top 25 with Wherever You Are. Meanwhile, two indies recently snapped up big-name former major label artists: Darryl Worley has signed with 903 Music, while Travis Tritt is now on Category 5 Records.
